TrailSnag is a trail-issue reporting platform. This policy covers this site and the app (trailsnag.app). It is deliberately short: we collect little, and we say so plainly.

This website

This site is fully static. It uses no cookies, no audience analytics, and no advertising trackers. It is hosted on GitHub Pages, whose servers may keep technical logs (IP addresses) for security purposes.

What a report contains

• the GPS position of the problem (or, failing that, the position of the scanned sticker);
• a category and, if you choose, a description and photos;
• a technical identifier generated by your device, which prevents duplicates.

No account is required and reports are anonymous by default. Position and photos can be personal information: we treat them as such.

What we do with it

A report is transmitted only to the organization that manages the land in question, so it can triage and fix the problem. An organization may publish a public map of its reports: it shows the nature, position, and status of the problem — never the identity of the person who reported it. We sell no data, to anyone.

Where the data lives

The database and photo storage are in Canada (Montréal); the API is hosted in Toronto. Some of our technical providers (hosting, storage) are US companies subject to their own laws.

Your rights

Under Québec's Law 25, you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information tied to a report you made. Write to the person in charge of the protection of personal information: bonjour@trailsnag.com.

The service evolves and this policy will evolve with it. Each version is dated; the version in force is the one published on this page.
